VN urges to focus on reform and growth qualities

VGP – Viet Nam is capable of properly maintaining macro-economic stability; raising growth; and pursuing reform. However, the country was suggested to not only focus on figure but also qualities of reform and growth, said Country Director for the WB in Viet Nam Ousmane Dione.

Director Ousmane Dione made the point in response to an interview with VGP.

According to the Director, in spite of disadvantages from the outside world, Viet Nam still enjoys good prospects.

However, it is necessary for Viet Nam to attach importance to strengthening its self-reliance and competitiveness in favor of long-term development.

As an open economy, Viet Nam was recommended to maintain the flexible monetary policy and exchange rates; consolidate fiscal policies; boost credit growth; accelerate reforms of SOEs and banking system.

In response to a question on Viet Nam’s economic challenges in 2019, Mr. Ousmane Dione said that Viet Nam would implement CPTPP Agreement and Viet Nam-EU FTA which create a challenge in optimizing all opportunities./.
