U.S. becomes largest tra fish importer of VN

VGP – The U.S. has overcome China and Hong Kong to become the largest importer of Viet Nam’s tra fish in 2018.

According to the information released by the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) on December 19, Viet Nam gained US$494.3 million from exporting tra fish to the U.S. over the recent 11 months of 2018, a year-on-year increase of 54.6% and making up 24.2%.

Meanwhile, tra fish exported to China and Hong Kong only increased 29.3% against the same period last year, reaching US$482.8 million, accounting for 23.7%.

The nation earned US$217.8 million from exporting tra fish to the EU in 11 months, up 17.1%.

The total export turnover of tra fish in November this year saw an increase of 5.2% compared to the previous month.

VASEP forecasted that the tra fish exports in 2018 may attain US$2.3 billion.
