The air route is within the strategic cooperative agreement between Quang Ninh Province’s People’s Committee and Viet Nam Airlines.

Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City-Van Don air route will be carried out every day by Airbus A321. The flight, lasting for two hours and five minutes, starts from Ho Chi Minh City at 14.00 and Van Don at 16.45.

Currently, Viet Nam Airlines has launched a promotion program with the price of VND800,000 (around US$36) for economy class (excluding tax and expenditures).

The air route is expected to strengthen connectivity between the South and the Northeast, meeting tourism and trading demands between Ho Chi Minh City and Quang Ninh Province and neighboring localities.

After three years of construction, Van Don international airport is invested with VND7,500 billion and is scheduled to welcome around 500,000 passengers in the first year.

The designed capacity for the first phase of the airport is expected to serve 2.5 million passengers per year and five million per year by 2030.
