Forestry exports up 16.6% in 11 months

VGP – The exports of key forestry products over the recent 11 months of 2018 hit US$8.49 billion, a year-on-year increase of 16.6%, according to the Viet Nam Administration of Forestry, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Over the recent 11 months of 2018, the imports of forestry products attained US$2.1 billion, up 6.17%. The nation mainly imported forestry products from China, the U.S., Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Chile, Germany, Brazil, New Zealand and France, which are accounting for 61.5% of total imports.

The trade surplus of the forestry sector was estimated at US$6.398 billion in 11 months. 

The sector expects to gain US$9.3 billion from exporting for the whole year. 

Accordingly, the exports of wood and wooden products reached US$7.22 billion, up 15.63% against the same period last year. 

Viet Nam’s key forestry export markets included the U.S., Japan, the EU, China and the Republic of Korea, making up 87.33%.
