VN Airlines welcomes first A321neo plane

VGP - The national flag carrier- Viet Nam Airlines (VNA) has received its first Airbus A321neo aircraft at the Noi Bai International Airport.

National flag carrier Viet Nam Airlines welcomes the first of its 20 A321neo planes at the Noi Bai International Airport, Ha  Noi

The event was witnessed by chairman of the State Capital Management Committee Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh, German Ambassador to Viet Nam Mr. Carl Georg Christian Berger and other distinguished guests.

This is the new generation aircraft that marked the beginning of VNA's plan of adding 20 narrow body aircraft which are expected to be delivered from now until the end of 2019. 

The deployment of the planes, to be fully delivered by the end of the next year, is part of the airline’s strategy to upgrade its fleet following its recent reception of the most modern types of Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A350-900.

Airbus global trade director Christian Scherer said that with its ability to save 15% of fuel, this type of plane will surely bring competitive advantages to Viet Nam Airlines over others.

Viet Nam Airlines CEO Duong Tri Thanh said the reception of the A321neo plane marks an important milestone in the company’s unceasing development and service improvement.

He expressed his belief that the A322neo planes will further boost the business of the carrier, especially in domestic routes and those in Asia.

With the inclusion of the A321neo plane, Viet Nam Airlines has become the first carrier in Viet Nam to apply new technology of the world with the equipment of the wireless streaming system.

The wireless streaming will be launched on A321neo flights from December 1, 2018.

The A321neo is the largest A320 family aircraft, designed wider aisles and seating.

By 2020, Viet Nam Airlines is estimated to have total 110 aircraft, including 20  A321neo planes.
