VN-Oman cooperation opportunities remain “great and promising”
VGP – The opportunities of cooperation between Viet Nam and Oman are “great and promising” and both countries have made great efforts to enhance cooperation i all fields.

Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Phuong Nga and Oman's Ambassador Sheikh Sultan bin Saif bin Hilal Al-Mahrouqi cut the cake to celebrate the 48th anniversary of the Blessed Renaissance Day of Oman in Ha Noi on November 19, 2018.

Oman’s Ambassador to Viet Nam Sheikh Sultan bin Saif bin Hilal Al-Mahrouqi made the above remarks at the 48th anniversary of the Blessed Renaissance Day of Oman in Ha Noi on November 19.

The bilateral ties have grown steadily since its establishment in 1992 thanks to the two Governments efforts. And this year has witnessed significant activities presented in the 3rd  meeting of the Joint Committee between the two countries, the visits of numbers of trade delegations and delegations from different sectors, who participated in the economic and political events held in Ha Noi, according to the diplomat.

These meetings and participations have shown positive results and will further broaden the cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially political and economic, he added.

The 3rd political consultation of the two countries’ foreign ministries is scheduled to take place in Muscat this year, providing another opportunity to discuss and exchange views and ideas on regional and international issues and to push forward the cooperation relations between the two friendly countries, said the ambassador.

Both sides also marked the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Viet Nam-Oman Investment (VOI) – a joint venture company formed by the State General Reserve Fund of Oman (SGRF) and the State Capital Investment Corporation of Viet Nam (SCIC), which is considered as the typical model for economic relations between the two countries.

In the area of infrastructure, VOI projects have contributed significantly to the development of key economic areas, improving the quality of life and security of millions of people in areas such as Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong Delta and the Central Highlands.  

On other side, the company continues its activities in various investment fields, such as health, highways, power stations, water supply and water purification plants. In agriculture, VOI poured around 10 US$ million in the Cacaointercontinental (CIC) project to plant 1,000 hectares of cocoa in the Central Highlands.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Phuong Nga said spoke highly of the achievements gained by Oman under the leadership of Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al Said over nearly five decades, contributing to heightening Oman’s international position.

She affirmed that the friendly and cooperative relationship between Viet Nam and Oman has effectively contributed to national development in respective countries.

Viet Nam expects to further foster multi-faceted cooperation with Oman for mutual benefits and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world./.
