Indian President visits Da Nang City

VGP - Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and his spouse arrived at Da Nang International Airport on the afternoon of November 18, starting their official visit to Viet Nam at the invitation of Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong.

Chairman of the State President Office Dao Viet Trung, Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee Huynh Duc Tho welcomed the President. 

The same day, Secretary of the Party Committee of Da Nang city Truong Quang Nghia hosted a reception for President Ram Nath Kovind. 

The two sides reviewed the cooperation between Da Nang and other Indian localities as Da Nang has welcomed many delegations from Indian cities, associations and naval vessels over recent years.

During the first nine months of this year, the central city’s export value to India reached roughly US$1.5 million, up 9% from the same period in 2017. As of September 2018, India ran two projects worth US$13.5 million in Da Nang.

The Government of India, through the Indian Embassy in Viet Nam, annually offers scholarships to the municipal officials in a wide range of fields such as short-term English training, information technology, environment and science within the framework of the Indian Economic and Technical Cooperation Program (ITEC).

Da Nang has worked hand in hand with the Indian Embassy in Viet Nam and the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City in launching cultural and art exchange programs in the city. 

The Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture and the National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation and Museology in India have inked a memorandum of understanding on the compilation and publication of the catalogue "Cham Sculpture of Viet Nam and the relationship with Indian art", which features 50 sculptures in the collection of the Da Nang museum./.
