Gov’t chief oversees BOT projects

A majority of comments applauded the model of BOT projects as they have mobilized social capital sources for transport infrastructure improvement. However, shortcomings and obstacles emerged especially the positions of toll stations, fees, and time of fee payment. 

Although the Ministry of Transport and relevant agencies have strengthened investigations some bottlenecks have yet been removed. 

Addressing the meeting, PM Phuc noticed the importance of absolutely resolving complaints of people and enterprises on BOT transport projects; ensuring safety at BOT stations; and drastically punishing those who hamper traffic safety and order. 

Regarding a system for automatic fee collection, PM Phuc tasked the MoT to drastically implement the project by late 2019.  

The MoT reported that they are managing 63 BOT projects across the country./.
