PM Phuc affirmed Viet Nam will spare no effort to hosting the race, emphasizing that it is an “important” event.
Viet Nam is the fourth country in the Asian leg of the Formula One calendar, joining the established Chinese, Singaporean, and Japanese grands prix.
Ha Noi promoter Vingroup has signed a multi-year deal to host the race, which will start as "a thrilling street race" in Viet Nam's capital around a 5.565 kilometer track around the My Dinh sports Complex.
To celebrate the launch of the race, Formula 1’s Chairman and Chief Executive, Chase Carey joins the City of Ha Noi leadership and Vingroup promoter as part of a grand ceremony on the same day at the Ha Noi Citadel, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks.
As the first new race to be announced under Liberty Media’s ownership, the Vietnamese Grand Prix represents Formula 1’s firm commitment to the Asia region.
According to Ha Noi Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung, the Formula 1 Vietnamese Grand Prix demonstrates Viet Nam’s ability as one of the fastest growing economies in the world to host events on a global scale and attract tourism to the country.
It provides an opportunity for inward investment to Viet Nam and importantly to bring the exciting wheel to wheel racing of Formula 1 to the people of Viet Nam, Chung said./.
