Party, NA leaders receive French PM

At the meeting with Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong, Mr. Edouard Philippe expressed his pleasure at meeting with the Vietnamese leader, congratulating Trong on his election as the State President.

He expressed his delight on visiting Viet Nam – an important partner of France in Asia – especially on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, and the five years since they signed the strategic partnership.

The French PM expected that the two sides will further promote their cooperation in an effective manner across all fields in the time ahead.

For his side, Mr. Trong expressed his pleasure at the positive development of bilateral relations between Viet Nam and France in recent years, appraising the two sides’ efforts to promote and maintain their strategic partnership through various mechanisms and cooperation forms.

Viet Nam has always considered France a leading partner in Europe and the world, he asserted, hoping that the two sides will actively coordinate to realize the recently signed agreements, make joint efforts to maintain the positive momentum of the bilateral relations, and closely coordinate at multilateral forums, thus contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

The host suggested the two sides facilitate the development of their community in each country.

The same day, while meeting with French PM Édouard Philippe, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan supposed that economic cooperation is the pillar in the two sides’ Strategic Partnership, suggesting promoting cooperation in economics, trade, investment, science and education in the upcoming time.

She expressed her belief that the visit and cooperation agreements signed during the trip would contribute to deepening the bilateral relationship and enhancing their political trust.

The two leaders consented to continuously enhance the Strategic Partnership more effectively and intensively, including the relations between the two sides’ localities.

They highly spoke of the success of the cooperative meeting between localities in Viet Nam and France in 2016, proposing the two nations prepare for the 11th cooperative meeting between the two countries’ localities by 2019 in Toulouse, France.
