Deputy PM Dung meets with Norwegian officials

VGP – Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung had bilateral meetings with Norway’s officials during his working visit to the European country from October 31 to November 2.

At the meetings, the Norwegian side extended congratulations to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong upon his election as the new State President of Viet Nam.

Deputy PM Dung and Norwegian Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Soreide agreed the two countries will strengthen mutual support at multilateral forums.

Deputy PM Dung expressed his hope that Norway would have stronger voice to back peaceful settlement of disputes in the East Sea on the basis of international law.

At meeting with Minister of Trade and IndustryTorbjorn Roe Isaksen and Minister of International Development Nicolai Astrup, both sides affirmed economic cooperation remains a key pillar of the bilateral ties.

The two-way trade reached over US$350 million last year while Norway ranks 41 out out 129 countries and territories investing in Viet Nam with total registered capital of more than US$160 million.

Deputy PM Dung asked Norway to step up talks on a trade deal between Viet Nam and the European Free Trade Association./.
