HCMC bolsters co-operation with France’s Lyon

VGP - Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Le Thanh Liem on October 18 in Ho Chi Minh City received Max Vincent, Vice President of France’s Lyon.

Speaking at the event, Max Vincent stated that the time-honoured relationship between France and Viet Nam is the foundation and motivation to foster ties between their localities.

He pledges to maintain agreements with Ho Chi Minh City, especially in management training, urban administration, sustainable development, waste treatment, urban lightning, and smart city building.

He also vowed to provide technical assistance for lighting projects in the city’s symbolic facilitates, while hoping that the city will step up economic collaboration with Lyon.

Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Le Thanh Liem stressed that in the context that Viet Nam and France are celebrating the 45th anniversary of their diplomatic ties and the five-year Strategic Partnership, the working visit by the Lyon delegation was of significance, contributing to tightening relations between Ho Chi Minh City and Lyon as well as between Viet Nam and France at large.

Mr. Liem thanked the region for supporting the repair, protection and conservation of several social and cultural establishments in the city, such as Ho Chi Minh Museum, the People’s Committee headquarters, Municipal Theatre and Post Office.

He said that the signing of the cooperation agreement created a new cooperation framework that helps boost bilateral relations between the two sides and deepen the Viet Nam-France strategic partnership.

At the event two sides signed a cooperation agreement for 2018-2020 between the two sides.
