Vinashin contracts to build ships for Norway

VNGOVNet – In the afternoon of December 1, 2006, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (Vinashin) and the Nam Triệu Shipbuilding Company signed contracts with Norwegian Hoegh Autolinesto to build ships in a series of 4 + 4, each capable of holding 6,900 automobiles.

At the signing ceremony, Mr. Phạm Thanh Bình, Chairman of Vinashin, revealed that the contract signing proved the Corporation trademark's greater publicity in domestic and international markets and showed the company's continuous development. The first ship is expected to be handed over in December 2009 and the remaining ones, six months later on.

 

The ships will be designed by Delta Marin of Finland with hull made of high-pressure steel and furnishment of advanced devices meeting the latest international maritime conventions' requirements./.
