Vietnamese, Cambodian PMs meet in Indonesia

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with his Cambodian counterpart Samdech Techo Hun Sen on the sidelines of the ASEAN Leaders’ Gathering (ALG) and the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) on October 11 in Bali, Indonesia.

PM Phuc took the occasion to thank his Cambodian counterpart for attending the funeral of former State President Tran Dai Quang. 

The PM hailed Mr. Hun Sen for supporting the Vietnamese Cambodian community to own their legal status and integrate into the local society.

Regarding the relocation of Vietnamese Cambodian people living on the Tonle Sap River in Kampong Chhnang, PM Hun Sen tasked the local authorities to conduct the mission without tampering people’s lives. PM Phuc also noticed the necessity to ensure essential infrastructure conditions, including electricity, schools, clinics, and job generation for the people. 

Both sides agreed to beef up cooperation especially in economics, trade, especially early sign the Viet Nam-Cambodia Border Trade Agreement.

The Cambodian Government affirmed Mr. Hun Sen would continue to encourage and create favorable ways for Vietnamese enterprises to do long-term business in Cambodia./.
