10th Mekong-Japan Summit opens

VGP - The 10th Mekong-Japan Summit opened on October 9 in Tokyo, Japan, attracting the participation of leaders from five nations in Mekong and Japan.

Japanese PM Shinzo Abe is chairing the event. Vietnamese PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Cambodian PM Hun Sen, Lao PM Thongloun Sisoulith, Thai PM Prayuth Chan-ocha and Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi also joined the summit. 

The 10th Mekong-Japan Summit marks the 10th anniversary of Mekong-Japan cooperative mechanism and three-year implementation of the Tokyo Strategy 2015.

At the event, leaders will discuss the Mekong-Japan cooperation in line with the international and regional situations, consider the suggestion of the 11th Mekong-Japan Foreign Ministers' Meeting on the establishment of three key pillars in Mekong-Japan Cooperation and discuss and consider approving the Tokyo Strategy 2018 on Mekong-Japan cooperation. 

On the same day, leaders of Mekong nations and Japan will hold a working session with the Japan-Mekong Friendship Parliamentary Alliance and the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations (Keidanren).

As schedule, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc will join with other leaders to attend  the Mekong-Japan Investment Forum chaired by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
