VN calls for peace, stability in seas, oceans

VGP – Viet Nam on October 4 asked other countries to make positive and practical contributions to the maintenance of peace, stability, security and freedom of navigation and aviation in the region.

“Once again, we affirm Viet Nam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes,” she declared.

As a member of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 and a coastal country in the East Sea, Viet Nam always respects maritime and aviation freedom in the East Sea in line with the convention, she stressed.

At the press conference, the spokesperson also revealed a number of Viet Nam’s external relations activities in the coming time.

Earlier on October 1, 9 News reported that Australia along with Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom will participate in live-fire drills in the East Sea, which runs from October 2-19.

This exercise will include a field training element, live fire serials as well as a command post exercise that will test the operability of Australian maritime, land and air elements.
