VinFast, a subsidiary of Viet Nam’s largest privately-held business Vingroup and a new domestic automaker from Viet Nam, makes its debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show with two new models on October 2 in Paris, France

The two models to debut in Paris are LUX A2.0 – sedan – and LUX SA2.0 – SUV. The cars are engineered by Germans, designed by Italians and built by Vietnamese.

“The assembly is almost 100% German,” said deputy chief of Vingroup Vo Quang Hue. Vingroup is investing US$3.5 billion in the project, with the lion’s share going to German companies.

Line production is to begin next summer, and the factory under construction will be able to produce 250,000 vehicles a year, equal to current annual car sales in Viet Nam.

By 2025, the company plans to manufacture 500,000 vehicles a year. Further down the road, VinFast plans to manufacture electric vehicles and has a licensing agreement with Siemens for electric bus engines.
