Under the MoU, South Africa and Viet Nam will also exchange delegations to maintain and enhance friendship and mutual understanding, share experience and discuss prosecution-related issues.

They will join hands in training to improve the capacity for prosecutors, especially in witness protection, and exchange of legal and judicial documents.

The signing of the MoU aims to create a legal framework for collaboration between the prosecution agencies of Viet Nam and South Africa, especially in crime combat, thus helping spur socio-economic development in each country.

The affiliation is also expected to contribute to consolidating and strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and South Africa on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties, he said.

At the talks, Silas Ramaite, Acting National Director of Public Prosecutions of South Africa, noted his hope that the two sides will continue with their close coordination in order to effectively realise the document.

Viet Nam’s Prosecutor General Le Minh Tri expressed his delight at the fruitful development of relations between Viet Nam and South Africa, and between the two agencies in particular.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed during talks between the SPPV delegation and representatives of the NPA in Johannesburg, South Africa on September 11.
