VN respects, ensures right to freedom of religion

Mr. Son made that statement at his reception for Holy See’s Apostolic Nuncio to Singapore cum Non-residential Pontifical Representative to Viet Nam Archbishop Marek Zalewski. 

The Deputy Minister acknowledged the contributions of Vietnamese Catholic citizens to the nation’s socio-economic development, highlighting recent progress made in Viet Nam’s relations with the Holy See.

He expressed his hope that Archbishop Zalewski will help the Viet Nam Catholic Church implement the Pope’s teachings.

Archbishop Zalewski expressed thanks to Viet Nam’s authorities for creating favorable conditions for his first visit to Viet Nam, confirming that he and the Holy See at large will do their utmost to promote bilateral ties, encouraging the Vietnamese Catholic community to contribute to the nation’s development. 

Archbishop Zalewski is scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, attend Mass, and meet bishops at Ha Noi’s St Joseph’s Cathedral during his working visit to Viet Nam from September 9-15.
