During the three-day National Day holidays alone, the site welcomed over 71,000 visitors, including 10,000 foreign arrivals.

Director of the Hue Monument Conservation Centre PhanThanh Hai said the “one destination, five heritages” tour mostly contributed to attracting visitors to the site.

Hai said the number of tourists to Hue has continuously increased, with the average rate of 15-18% per year. The site is expected to serve about 3.3 million holidaymakers in 2018.

Notably, about 170 monuments in the heritage area have been invested for restoration and conservation, typically Ngo Mon, Thai Hoa Palace, Hien Lam Cac, The Mieu relic system, Dien Tho Palace, and Duyet Thi Duong. Many works in Gia Long, Dong Khanh, Trieu Thi, and Tu Ductombs have been restored.

A significant rise in tourist arrivals from the Republic of Korea (RoK) was a major contributor to the growth in the number of visitors to the province.

Investment has also upgraded the relic site’s infrastructure, including the roads, lighting system, fire prevention system, and lightning protection.

The restoration of the Hue heritage site has been not only revived cultural heritage values, but also helped Hue develop into a must-see destination spot in Viet Nam.

From the beginning of the year, Thua Thien-Hue has organized many events and culture, art and cuisine festivals, helping to lure more visitors to the locality. Luxury medical resorts such as the Onsen Spa Resort and ThanhTan Hot Springs Resort and eco-tourism sites like Bach Ma National Park, Thanh Toan Bridge, Hue garden houses and Tam Giang Lagoon have become attractive destinations for both domestic and foreign tourists.
