Visitors to Da Nang up 8.3% on National Day

VGP – As many as 148,578 visitors travelled to the central city of Da Nang on the occasion of the National Day (September 2), a year-on-year increase of 8.3%, according to the city’s Department of Tourism.

The number of foreign visitors witnessed an increase of 13.9% against the same period last year, reaching 44,228 ones while the number of domestic ones saw an increase of 6%, attaining 104,350.

The total number of guests staying overnight was estimated at 47,088 ones, up 18.8%n, including 22,139 foreigners and 24,949 domestic visitors, up 29.6% and 10.6%, respectively. 

Foreign tourists made up more than 70% of guests staying overnight, mainly coming from the Republic of Korea (RoK), China, Japan, Hong Kong (China) and Europe. 

Earlier, new direct air routes from Bangkok, Hong Kong and Deagu to Da Nang were launched, helping increase the number of visitors to Da Nang City. 

Reportedly, nine airlines offer some 170 direct flights per week between Da Nang and various cities of the RoK, including Seoul, Busan, Incheon and Daegu. Da Nang also has direct flights to the RoK, Singapore, Taiwan (China), Bangkok (Thailand) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).

The estimated number of tourists to Da Nang City in the first half of 2018 is at over 4 million, a rise of 29.4% compared with the same period of 2017. Of the figure, the number of foreign visitors represents some 1.6 million, up by 47.1% year on year.
