13 deaths caused by heavy rains, floods

VGP – As of September 2, heavy rains and floods in the northern mountainous provinces of Son La, Lao Cai, Yen Bai and central provinces of Thanh Hoa and Nghe An caused 13 deaths, according to the permanent office of the Central Committee for flood and storm control.

A total number of 364 houses collapsed and 6,523 ha of rice and crops were damaged. 

As many as 512 cattle and 56,367 poultry died; 963 hectares of aquaculture area were damaged; 620 m of gullies and 6,174 m of canals were destroyed.

Thanh Hoa has been seriously suffered by floods and landslides, reporting nine deaths, 267 collapsed houses and 4,586 damaged ha of rice and crops. 

The Viet Nam Red Cross Society’s Central Committee has decided to offer urgent support to three flood-hit provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Son La with a total funding of VND420 million VND.

Along with sending its working teams to Thanh Hoa to perform support activities, the organization also directed its chapters in the localities to coordinate with local administrations to help the affected locals.
