Ha Long-Hai Phong expressway opens to traffic

The US$ 556 million road is connected to the Ha Noi-Hai Phong expressway, reducing Ha Long-Ha Noi commute by 50 km to 130 km, and the Ha Long-Hai Phong route from 75 km to just 25 km.

The 24.6-kilometer Ha Long-Hai Phong Expressway also connects National Highway 18 in Ha Long's Dai Yen Ward with the Ha Noi-Hai Phong Expressway in Hai Phong's Hai An District.

Also built is a VND7.661- billion bridge across the Bach Dang River between Quang Ninh and Hai Phong. The 5.4-km bridge, with a 3.5-km span above the river, has a width of 25 meters (82 feet) and four lanes.

Speaking at the launching ceremony on the same day, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc said he was proud of the “made-in-Viet Nam” bridge which shows the capacity of Vietnamese engineers.

The Government chief also stressed that the Ha Long-Hai Phong expressway will help promote the value of the Ha Noi-Hai Phong expressway and open up development opportunities and connectivity for the whole region./.
