VN chairs 42nd Pacific Armies Management Seminar

The 42nd Pacific Armies Management Seminar (PAMS 42), themed “Cooperation Among Indo-Asian Pacific Land Forces in Humanitarian Assistance, Disaster Response”, takes place in Ha Noi on August 20, 2018

It was co-chaired by Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People’s Army Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hong Huong and Commanding General of the US Army Pacific Command (USARPAC) Robert B.Brown. 

The event not only created an opportunity for experience exchanges between military forces but also called on forces to realize humanitarian works and disaster relief, said Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People’s Army and Defense Deputy Minister Phan Van Giang. 

He expected that a number of lessons, experience and initiatives presented at the seminar would help improve the effectiveness of military works. 

Through the event, military forces from all the nations will increase mutual beliefs for the region of peace, stability and development, he added. 

After the opening ceremony, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army Pham Hong Huong co-hosted a press conference with Commanding General of the U.S. Army Pacific Command (USARPAC) Robert B.Brown

Mr. Huong said that this is the seventh time Viet Nam has joined the seminar and the first time the nation has co-chaired the even with the U.S. 

Mr. B.Brown highly valued Viet Nam’s first organization of the PAMS and the nation’s crucial role in the region and the world. 

The four-day event attracted representatives from land forces in 27 countries, namely the UK, India, Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, Fiji, the Republic of Korea, the US, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Mongolia, Nepal, Japan, Japan, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, France, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tonga, China and Viet Nam.
