The move aims to concretize the master plan for the Hoa Binh Lake national tourism site development until 2030, the Hoa Binh province region construction plan and related plans, with a view to developing the site into an attractive destination in the northern mid-land and mountainous region with unique tourism products associated with the Muong ethnic culture and the ecological system inside the lake.

The planning tasks should define the directions for land use, social and technical infrastructure, environmental sanitation, and synchronous services for the tourism site; design connectivity between the site and other scenic spots and tourism sites in the region; and point out how to optimize the exploitation of the values of  local landscape, ethnic culture and identities for tourism development at the site.

Under the approved planning tasks, the Hoa Binh Lake national tourism site is located in Hoa Binh city and the four districts of Da Bac, Cao Phong, Tan Lac and Mai Chau.

Hoa Binh Lake will be the key tourism site of the northern midland and mountainous region, offering featured tourism products associated with the local Muong ethnic culture and the ecological system inside the lake, while taking over some major functions in terms of national-level and interregional technical infrastructure, such as generating electricity, providing water, regulating flood and preserving water resources.
