Trade surplus hits US$3.1 bln in seven months

VGP - Viet Nam’s exports and imports in the first seven months of 2018 reached US$133.69 billion and US$130.63 billion, witnessing respective year-on-year-increases of 15.3% and 10.2%, according to the report of the General Statistics Office.

The nation enjoyed trade surplus of US$3.1 billion in the first seven months of 2018, The foreign-invested sector reported the excess of exports over imports of US$18.2 billion (including crude oil) while the State sector announced the trade deficit of US$15.1 billion.

The U.S. maintained the largest importer of Viet Nam over the past seven months of 2018.

Phones and accessories topped the list, witnessing year-on-year increase of 15.8%.

China’s main export items to Viet Nam included oil and gas (up 101.4%), fiber (up 18.8%) and phones and accessories (up 6.6%) over the recent seven months.
