Ha Noi inks Singapore Declaration on environmental sustainability

VGP – Ha Noi and nine capital cities of the ASEAN country members inked the Singapore Declaration on environmental sustainability within the framework of the World Cities Summit 2018 in Singapore.

Ha Noi’s delegation, led by Vice Chairman of the city’s People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu attended the 6th Meeting of Governors/Mayors of ASEAN Capitals (MGMAC).

The MGMAC, attracting the participation of more than 40 delegates from the 10 nations of ASEAN, focuses on challenges facing the capital cities of the 10 nations and experience and initiatives related to environmental protection and sustainable development. 

Participants agreed that in addition to efforts of the entire society, ASEAN capitals ought to work together to overcome difficulties and foster a united and resilient ASEAN.

MGMAC was started in 2013 by then Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo as a platform for mayors and governors to discuss topics relating to the development of their capital cities, and to strengthen links between them. 

This year, Singapore hosted the event as a precursor to the World Cities Summit, which runs between July 8 and 12.

Representatives from four localities of Viet Nam, including Ha Noi, Hai Phong City, Binh Duong Province and Quang Ngai Province joined the event.
