VN to join Agreement on Port State Measures

VGP – The Government has agreed on Viet Nam’s joining the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)’s Agreement on Port State Measures (PSMA) which aims to prevent, deter and eliminate illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.

The Government assigned the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to work with the agencies concerned to organize the implementation of the PSMA in accordance with current regulations.

The PSMA was approved by the FAO member countries in 2009 and took effect on June 5, 2016.

It is considered a turning point in the fight against illegal acts of the fishery industry.
