Brazilian President: Brazil values VN’s status in Southeast Asia

VGP – Brazil highly values the status of Viet Nam in Southeast Asia and expects Viet Nam to work as a bridging role for Brazil to promote cooperation with the ASEAN Community.

Brazilian President Michel Temer made the statement at his reception for Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue on July 2 in Brazil on the occasion of Deputy PM Hue’s official visit to Brazil. 

At the meeting, Mr. Hue asserted that Viet Nam highly appraised the role and status of Brazil in the world and attached importance to the relationship with Brazil. 

He said crucial agreements reached during his official visit to Brazil has made contributions to creating legal frameworks for both sides’ businesses to enhance trade and investment. 

He conveyed Vietnamese high-ranking leaders’ invitation to the Brazilian President, expecting to soon welcome the President to pay a visit to Viet Nam. 

Mr. Michel Temer congratulated Viet Nam on its achieved socio-economic achievements and highly spoke of the meaning of Deputy PM Hue’s official visit to Brazil in consolidating and expanding the friendship and multi-faceted relations between the two sides. 

He welcomed the two nations to enhance cooperation at international and regional forums, respectively inviting State President Tran Dai Quang and PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc to visit Brazil at an appropriate time.

*At the meeting with Brazilian FM Aloysio Nunes Ferreira, Deputy PM Hue asserted that Viet Nam attaches importance to the relations with Brazil in particular and through the relations, boosting its cooperative ties with the MERCOSUR (including Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay). 

Mr. Aloysio Nunes supposed that the Deputy PM’s visit has strengthened mutual trust, opening a new chapter in the two countries’ relations, heading to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic ties by 2019. 

He said that the Brazilian Minister of Defense will pay a visit to Viet Nam in the upcoming time.  

The two sides agreed to continue enhancing the establishment of legal framework for bilateral relationship such as a frame agreement on technical cooperation and information exchange on tariff to soon ink an agreement on avoidance of double taxation and other agreements. 

They consented to take advantage of current mechanisms such as the inter-Governmental Committee, political consultations between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs to propose specific measures to boost bilateral relationship and accelerate cooperation in international organizations and forums. 

Regarding international and regional issues of mutual concerns, the two sides affirmed the importance of ensuring peace, stability, security and safety of aviation and navigation in the East Sea and the settlement of disputes through peaceful measures based on the international laws. 

They also advocate ASEAN and China to soon reach an effective and practical Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).
