VN values traditional friendship with Latvia

VGP – Viet Nam always places importance on boosting the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with friends in the Baltic region, including Latvia, said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh while receiving State Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Latvia Andrejs Pildegovics in Ha Noion June 12.

State Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Latvia AndrejsPildegovics was in Viet Nam for the foreign deputy ministerial-level political consultation.

He noted with satisfaction positive developments in bilateral ties as shown by the official visit to the country by Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh in October 2017, and effective coordination at multilateral forums.

Mr. Minh lauded positive developments in bilateral economic-trade cooperation while welcoming the countries’ agreement to soon negotiating the signing of important cooperation documents like those on economics, education, visa exemption for diplomatic passport holders, and mutual legal support, in an effort to fine-tune a legal foundation to facilitate their cooperation across a multitude of fields.

Andrejs Pildegovics told Minh that his nation prioritizes strengthening the traditional friendship with Viet Nam and also confirmed his country’s commitment to supporting Viet Nam to bolster its cooperation with the European Union, including the early signing of the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), and working hand in hand with Viet Nam at regional and international forums.
