VN, Japan join hands in boosting investment in potential areas

At the talks, the two sides expressed their delight at the rapid and practical development of Viet Nam – Japan extensive strategic partnership over the past years, agreeing to strengthen cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties. 

Viet Nam attaches importance to the extensive strategic partnership with Japan, and considers Japan the top important and long-term partner, asserted FM Minh, hailing Japan’s supply of official development assistance (ODA) for Viet Nam. 

He suggested Japan continues joint work in high-quality infrastructure, climate change response, as well as effective and proper use of ODA with Viet Nam as well as increase Japan’s investment in the country in potential fields of labor, high-tech agriculture, locality-to-locality cooperation and people-to-people exchange. 

For his side, Mr. Kono affirmed that that Japan highly values ties with Viet Nam in its policy, adding that the nation will continue assisting Viet Nam in economic development through high-quality infrastructure and human resources training projects. 

The  Japanese FM expressed his hope to enhance bilateral ties in all fields, and promote cultural and people-to-people exchange on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties.

Regarding regional and global issues, including the East Sea issue, they consented to reinforce cooperation at the United Nations, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and ASEAN’s related meetings. 

Mr. Kono highly appraised Viet Nam’s successful organization of APEC Year 2017 and the nation’s close coordination in the negotiations and signing of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, hoping that the two nations would accelerate internal procedures to soon realize the deal. 

FM Minh asserted to work closely with Japan as Viet Nam is the coordinator of ASEAN- Japan ties for 2018-2021, aiming to accelerate ASEAN-Japan relations more effectively.
