Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Hung highly valued India’s consideration of ASEAN in general and CLMV in particular as one of the key partners in its Look East Policy, affirming the importance of organizing the event as an opportunity to boost regional integration between India and CLMV nations.
The Vietnamese official proposed all nations strengthen transport infrastructure connections, especially transport in India’s northeast region and Myanmar, the two important points to connect India with CLMV countries.
The countries should enhance institutional linkage by harmonizing trade investment and finance policies, he added.

Trade between India and the CLMV countries hit US$14.5 billion in 2017. India is the largest trade partner of the CLMV countries in South Asia.
