Exports to India rocket in Q1

VGP – Viet Nam’s exports to India in the first three months of 2018 reached US$1.568 billion, up 111% (or US$743.19 million) against the same period last year, according to Viet Nam’s trade representative office in India.

Viet Nam’s exports from India were estimated at US$1.04 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2.4%. The nation enjoyed a trade surplus of US$267.75 million in March and US$532.6 million in the first quarter of 2018, the highest figure recorded. 

Viet Nam’s key export items included machines, equipment, tools, vehicles, iron and steels. The exports of phones and accessories saw a year-on-year increase of 99.7%, attaining US$200.17 million. 

According to the statistics of the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the two-way trade value obtained US$1.89 billion in the first two months of 2018, a year-on-year increase of 14.2%. 

Viet Nam’s exports and imports from India reached US$931.99 million and US$962.39 million, up 84.52% and down 16.58%, respectively.
