VN attaches importance to economic, trade relations with Belgium

VGP – Viet Nam attaches importance to the economic and trade relations with the EU in general and Belgium and Flanders in particular and highly values Belgium’s support for Viet Nam in such areas as education, training, economic and trade.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc made that statement at his reception for Minister-President of Flanders Geert Bourgeois on May 14 in Ha Noi. 

Welcoming the Minister-President of Flanders and large corporations to work with Vietnamese ministries, agencies and localities, the PM expected that the two sides will strengthen cooperation in the upcoming time.

Mr. Geert Bourgeois affirmed to advocate approving the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), supposing that the signing of the agreement will create a strong impetus in boosting economic and trade cooperation between Viet Nam and nations in the EU.  

Viet Nam expects to ink the EVFTA with the EU to facilitate the two nations’ cooperation, said the Vietnamese leader, suggesting Belgium advocate and encourage other nations in the EU to soon ratify the EVFTA. 

The two nations are exchanging to sign the strategic cooperative program in fields of agriculture, aquaculture, animal husbandry and flower planting, said Mr. Phuc, affirming that the Vietnamese businesses hope to cooperate with Belgian partners. 

The Vietnamese Government is encouraging its people and enterprises to enhance cooperation with businesses from Europe, including Belgium, said the PM, adding that the Government will continuously improve the business environment and facilitate enterprises from Belgium and Flanders to pour more investment in Viet Nam. 

Mr. Geert Bourgeois announced advantages of Flanders such as water management, environmental sanitation attached to urbanization, climate change adaption, management and capacity enhancement, confirming that businesses from Flandersare willing to boost cooperation with the Vietnamese partners in the upcoming time. 

The same day, Minister-President of Flanders Geert Bourgeois held a working session with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son.
