During the period, the country shipped 2.16 million tons of rice abroad, earning US$1.1 billion, year-on-year increases of 21.7% in volume and 37.7% in value.

China continued to be the largest importer of Vietnamese rice when it purchased 411,600 tons, or 29.1% of the rice market share.
In the January-April period, cashew exports experienced sound expansion in terms of both volume and value. Some 103,000 tons of cashew were shipped abroad at a value of US$1.04 billion, which lead to 23.1% in quantity and 31.9% in value compared to last year.
In addition, the ministry also estimated that Viet Nam spent US$ 9.5 billion purchasing foreign agro-forestry-fishery products in the four-month period, growing 11.7% from the same months in 2017.
