PM asks for joint efforts to carry out assigned tasks

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc hailed drastic spirit of ministries, agencies, and localities in launching specific action plans and strictly inspecting and accelerating the implementation of assigned tasks over the recent four months of the year.

The PM made that statement in his opening remarks at the Government monthly meeting on May 3 in Ha Noi. 

PM Phuc highly appraised the successful organizations of four teleconferences in April in which delegates discussed such issues as natural calamity prevention, tackling difficulties for construction, logistics and enhancement of exports. 

A number of ministries, agencies and localities organized forums, trade promotion and dialogues to collect comments from people and businesses, he said, adding that the socio-economic development performances in four months have helped consolidate trust among people and businesses.

The Government leader referred to positive achievements including the industrial production index up 11.4%, number of foreign visitors to Viet Nam reaching 5,5 million, up nearly 30%, total retail sales and service revenues up nearly 10%, exports value attaining nearly US$74 billion, up 20% and trade surplus gaining US$3.39 billion. 

The nation created more than 460,000 jobs and sent 38,000 laborers to work aboard in four months, he said, stressing the number of 41,000 new firms were set up and 11,000 enterprises returned to operation. 

PM Phuc highlighted the nation’s achievements in fields of culture, society, environment, denouncement settlement, anti-corruption, anti-waste, guaranty of defense and security and enhancement of diplomatic works.    

The Government chief also named a number of shortcomings and challenges including slow disbursement of investment capital from State budget, risks in Consumer Price Index, the nation’s export items facing trade protection measures, high number of enterprises stopping operating and high expenditures on logistics and inspection. 

The PM expected that agencies and localities at all levels should join hands and synchronously make progress in the upcoming time. 

PM Phuc required Government members to discuss and give comments on these mentioned issues to drastically and synchronously take measures and actions serving the people and production.
