At the meeting, the Government will assess the socio-economic development performances in April and in the first four months of 2018, listen to report on GDP forecasts on unobserved economic sectors and preparations for the fifth session of the 14thNational Assembly, review the implementation of the law and ordinance-making program and the issuance of documents detailing the implementation of laws and ordinances in the first four months of 2018 and other contents.
According to the report of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the macro-economy was sustainably maintained and the inflation rate was closely controlled.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in April rose 0.08% against the previous month and witnessed a year-on-year increase of 2.8%.
The industrial production index (IIP) growth set a record of 9.4%, much higher than the same period of previous years. The total retail sale and service revenues picked up 9.8%.
The total export value over the recent four months reached US$73.76 billion, up 19%, generating a trade surplus of US$3.39 billion.
The number of foreign visitors in four months saw a year-on-year increase of 29%, obtaining more than 5.5 million ones.
As many as 41,000 new firms were set up, up 4.3% and 11.5% in terms of the number and capital, respectively.
