DPM receives newly-appointed Bangladeshi Ambassador

VGP – Viet Nam and Bangladesh hailed active developments in the two nations’ relations after 45 years of establishing diplomatic ties, especially in fields of politics-diplomacy, economic-trade-investment, culture, education and people-to-people exchange.

The statement was made during Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh’s reception for newly-appointed Bangladeshi Ambassador to Viet Nam Samina Naz on April 18. 

Viet Nam expects to strengthen the multi-faceted relations with Bangladesh, asserted the Deputy PM, highly valuing the Ambassador’s preparations for State President Tran Dai Quang’s State visit to Bangladesh in March 2018.

He suggested the Ambassador accelerate the full and effective implementation of agreements reached during the visit, referring to the launch of measures to boost bilateral trade in the upcoming time, enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, maintain bilateral cooperative mechanisms and strive to reach the two-way trade value of US$2 billion by 2020. 

Ms. Samina Naz expressed her hope that the two sides will share experience in economic development, guaranty to social security, poverty reduction and gender equality. 

She agreed to soon organize the third meeting of Viet Nam-Bangladesh Joint Committee and the second political consultation in Ha Noi in 2018. 

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) is planning to visit Viet Nam to set up relations with a view to enhancing bilateral economic and trade cooperation, said the Ambassador. 

Bangladesh will closely cooperate with Viet Nam at international forums and the United Nations, actively advocating Viet Nam to running for the non-permanent member position of the United Nations Security Council in the 2020-2021 phase.
