VN expresses concern over situation in Syria

VGP – Viet Nam expresses concern over the current situation in Syria and protests the use of force which threatens life of innocent civilians as well as peace and stability in the region.

Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang made the above statement on Sunday in response to the recent developments in Syria.

She said all conflicts and differences must be settled through peaceful measures on the basis of international law, especially the United Nations Charter and of the principle of respecting independence and sovereignty of countries.

The United Nations Chemical Weapons Convention must be absolutely observed, Hang added.

Hang said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned Vietnamese citizens not to travel to Syria or regions in its vicinity until stability is re-established in this Middle East nation in order to avoid unexpected dangers and risks.

In case of emergency, Vietnamese citizens are recommended to contact the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran (cum Syria) via its hotline 98.21.2411670 or their relatives in Viet Nam can call the citizen protection hotline 84.981.84.84.84 for timely support.
