Japan, VN augment audit cooperation

VGP - President of the Audit Commission (AC) of Japan Teruhiko Kawato in Tokyo on April 10 received Auditor General of the State Audit Office (SAV) of Viet Nam Ho Duc Phoc.

At the reception, Teruhiko said that the two audit agencies have seen effective cooperation through the INTOSAI and the ASOSAI and via the exchanges between the two countries.

With throughout  preparations, the SAV will successfully organise the 14th Assembly of the ASOSAI in September 2018 and as an ASOSAI member, Japan pledged to double its effort to contribute to the assembly’s success, he emphasized.

Concerning the cooperation programme, Teruhiko said that together with applying IT in data analysis to improve audit efficiency, the AC is developing an audit information system to intensify audit security.

The Japanese tax system, auditor training programmes and plans were touched upon at the meeting. Teruhiko said he hopes that Japanese experience will be productive for the SAV.

In turn, Auditor General of the State Audit Office of Viet Nam Ho Duc Phoc said the SAV desires to step up cooperation with the AC as the good way of bringing the SAV’s development to a higher level as well as ensuring its functions and missions as assigned by the National Assembly and the State.

The two countries have maintained a fruitful strategic partnership in the past time and the East Asian nation is currently the largest provider of ODA for Viet Nam with 2.6 trillion JPY (roughly US$24.3 billion ), Phoc said, noting that as the SAV is entrusted with auditing ODA funds in Viet Nam, collaboration between the two audit bodies will be strengthened in the coming time. 

Mr. Phoc also thanked the AC for providing support for Viet Nam over the past years, hoping that the two agencies, as members of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) and the Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI), will reinforce solidarity and bilateral cooperation to develop INTOSAI and ASOSAI.
