VGP – The first-ever Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Business Summit is taking place in Ha Noi on March 30, on the margins of the sixth GMS Summit (GMS-6).

March 30, 2018 1:23 PM GMT+7

The business summit is an outstanding initiative proposed by Viet Nam as the host of the GMS-6, aiming to strengthen dialogue between businesses and government agencies, whilst connecting enterprises in the region and the world.

The initiative has received the consensus from GMS member countries and the support from partners, including the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the World Bank (WB), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and the business community, with more than 2,000 domestic and international entrepreneurs having registered to attend.

As assessed by the ADB, which assumes the role of the GMS Secretariat, the organization of the GMS Business Summit in Viet Nam will open up opportunities to bring energy sources, financial sources, and ideas to this interregional cooperation mechanism.

The forum will feature discussion sessions at the ministerial level across an array of the GMS mechanism’s major cooperation fields, including new business models, private economic development, infrastructure construction, and high-technology application.

Various activities are also scheduled during the day, including a reception ceremony for heads of delegations, a photo exhibition on GMS cooperation, and a meeting of the GMS Business Council.

Especially, the Plenary Session of the GMS Business Summit will be held later this afternoon with the participation of the leaders of six GMS member countries.
