Tuan said about 80% of rice exports this year will be of high quality.
In the first two months, Viet Nam shipped 861,000 tons of rice, worth US$419 million, up 17% and 34% in terms of quantity and value compared to the same period last year.
The Philippines is the biggest importer with 26.9%, followed by China with 23.5%, Tuan said.
Last year, Viet Nam gained US$2.6 billion from rice exports.
Meanwhile, Thailand's Rice Exporters Association predicts this year’s rice exports will hit 9.5 million tons.
