The deputy PM made the remark while touring the construction site of the Vingroup-invested Vinfast automobile manufacturing complex in the northern port city of Hai Phong on March 2.

Located on Cat Hai island in Cat Hai district, Vinfast covers an area of 335 hectares with total investment of VND35 trillion (US$1.54 billion).

Addressing a working session with the investor of the complex, Deputy PM Dung highly appreciated Vingroup for having prioritized resources and taking organized steps in investing in developing automobiles bearing Vietnamese brand.

The Vietnamese automotive industry is currently seeing a lot of big opportunities with an increasingly expanded market, he said, stating that in the context of extensive economic integration, the industry will not be able to progress forward without any drastic measures taken by domestic manufacturers and assembly firms.

Over the past years, the Government and the PM have drastically joined ministries and sectors to explore the difficulties faced by each enterprise operating in the domestic automobile manufacturing and assembly sector, thence applying effective solutions to remove those obstacles, he said.

The deputy PM affirmed the Government’s determination to develop the automotive industry, thereby creating a premise to develop many other supporting industries, which he said, would help to generate jobs, increase budget revenue, and contribute significantly to the economic growth.
