Kuwait’s national days marked

Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem congratulated the Middle East country for taking the seat as rotary chair of the United Nations Security Council in February.

He expressed his belief that based on the sound bilateral relations, cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Kuwait will be enhanced. Ho Chi Minh City wants to work with Kuwait in development assistance, labour and education-training.

He hoped that Kuwait will become a gateway for the Vietnamese southern hub to enhance trade exchanges with other Gulf countries.

In turn, Kuwaiti Consul General Khaled Al-Mutairi said friendship has helped develop relations between Viet Nam and Kuwait in various fields, especially economy, trade, investment and education.

The two sides will enjoy a stronger bond in the future, he stated while inviting Vietnamese enterprises to invest in Kuwait, contributing to bolstering two-way trade. 

The two countries are strategic partners in the oil and gas sector, with hundreds of Vietnamese working in Kuwait in the field. 

Currently, Viet Nam is the largest trade partner of Kuwait in the ASEAN bloc while the Middle East nation is among leading trade partners of Viet Nam in the region. Two-way trade in 2017 reached US$350 million and the figure is expected to hit US$2 billion by 2020.
