Obstacles of DECREE 116 to be REVIEWED next week

Mr. Mai Tien Dung, Minister-Chairman of the Government, stressed the point at a meeting on Monday to review obstacles complained by automobile producers and traders in the implementation of Decree No. 116/2017/ND-CP stipulating conditions for auto production and trading and Circular 03/2018 on technical and environmental safety inspection of imported auto vehicles.

The meeting was also attended by Vice Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho, Vice Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai as well as representatives of embassies of the US, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the European Union.

As a developing country with extensive international integration, Viet Nam vows to facilitate automobile import, however, Viet Nam also needs to take certain actions to spur domestic production.

Dung said Viet Nam has released consistent mechanisms and policies to back automobile enterprises’ investment expansion over years. The meeting was held to ensure that the Government’s regulations are in line with international practices and to guarantee the rights of consumers, traffic safety and environmental protection.

The country even lost around VND 4-5 trillion in State budget revenues due to introduction of preferential tax policies for car spare parts last year in Vinh Phuc province alone, according to Minister-Chairman Dung./.
