Party chief receives ASEAN diplomats

Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong, Vice Foreign Minister Dang Dinh Quy and ASEAN diplomats.

The ASEAN diplomats congratulated the Vietnamese Party, Government and people on their great socio-economic development and diplomatic achievements in 2017, especially the successful organization of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in the central city of Da Nang, expecting that the nation will reap more achievements in 2018.

They briefed about advancements of the relations between Viet Nam and each ASEAN nation, committing to doing their utmost to consolidate and enhance the traditional friendship and cooperation with Viet Nam in particular and among ASEAN countries in general, contributing to peace, stability and prosperity in the Southeast Asia.

Party leader Trong extended congratulations to the diplomats as well as to individual ASEAN country on the occasion of Viet Nam’s lunar new year festival.

Last year, ASEAN was benefited from the peaceful and stable environment which featured enhanced cooperation among the member countries and between the bloc and its partners.

Welcoming this year’s theme of “Resilient and Innovative ASEAN” initiated by Singapore as ASEAN Chair, Party chief Trong hoped that with the joint efforts of the member states, ASEAN will continue enhancing the block solidarity and cooperation, expanding relations with external partners, and fostering the common development goals.
