PM asks for prompt resumption of operation after Tet holiday

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc demanded immediate resumption of work after the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, ending the outdated thought that the first lunar month is time for festivals.

The Government chief made the request at a meeting on February 21 to review Tet situation.

Especially, the Ministries of Planning and Investment, Finance, Industry and Trade, and the State Bank of Viet Nam were urged to keep a close watch on macro-economic performance, market fluctuations in order to take timely interventions in order to maintain macro-economic stability and control inflation.

All wrongdoings at Spring festivals must be handled strictly, PM Phuc said.

He requested the Cabinet members to closely monitor their management fields, continue speeding up administrative procedures reform and improving investment environment to create favorable conditions for business development in line with the Government’s motto for 2018.

According to Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung, the lunar new year holiday took place in a warm, joyful, and safe atmosphere, featuring with abundant supply of goods and stable prices.

Good demands during the holiday rose by 12-15% compared to the previous Tet and 10% against 2017 Tet.

The number of tourists increased by around 15-20% against the same period last year while social order and security were guaranteed.

However, 37,376 people were hospitalized due to 218 traffic accidents, reported the Ministry of Health./.
