The Government chief made the point at working session with the local leaders on February 9.

The Government chief also urged Dak Nong to make full use of its advantages, including fertile soil, natural resources and unique cultures of 40 minorities to spur development.

Despite posting annual growth rate of over 10% per year, the GDP per capita still remains low compared to the country’s average level, said PM Phuc.

He also pointed out the number of enterprises and the provincial competitiveness index are also low while deforestation is still complicated.

The PM called for more drastic efforts to restructure the locality’s economy, focus on developing processing sector and reform administrative procedures.

Dak Nong Province still has high poverty rate while over 675,500 people have migrated to the province since 2004, putting pressure on forest management and infrastructure, according to Chairman of the Dak Nong People’s Committee Nguyen Bon.

Without airport and railway to connect to other provinces, the local leaders asked for the Government’s financial support for infrastructure development.

They also asked the Government to add the Krong No geopark into the planned list of national tourism sites thanks to its unique scientific and tourism values./.
