Orientations on agro-forestry-fishery exports passed

VGP – In 2018, agricultural production will be restructured in three pillars namely country, locality, and commune.

The Steering Committee for agricultural market convened a meeting on January 31 to set orientations for agricultural development in 2018. 

Especially, at the event, the Steering Committee assessed and built value chains for national key products; develop markets; and give a priority to potential exports like shrimps and fruits. 

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam stressed the importance of effective trade promotion and removal of technical barriers in the U.S. and the EU; surrounding markets; and emerging markets like India and the Middle East. 

The domestic market will be given due attention and connected with regions of raw materials; ensured food hygiene; and promote regional specialties. 

Specifically, difficulties of the aquatic sector will be extricated in the U.S. and the EU. 

Regarding the forestry sector, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tri, Head of the Administration of Forestry revealed that in the coming time, the Viet Nam-EU Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA), a legally-binding bilateral trade agreement that aims to improve forest governance and promote trade in legal timber from Viet Nam to the EU will be signed. In addition, Viet Nam will promote trade cooperation and harmonize regulations on forestry origin management regulations with other markets including the Republic of Korea, Australia, and Russia and promote medicine cooperation with China. 

Husbandry production will be promoted to build disease-free regions. 

Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam also tasked the Central Committee to improve market forecast capability and analysis./.
