The National Assembly Standing Committee convened the 20th session on January 11 to prepare for APPF-26.

Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for External Relations Nguyen Van Giau said that the Vietnamese National Assembly will host the APPF-26 from January 18-21 in Ha Noi.

The event expects to welcome 20 delegations including nearly 30 delegates.

The meeting’s main activities will include a meeting of female parliamentarians, a meeting of the APPF Executive Committee, the opening ceremony of APPF-26, a banquet hosted by Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly and APPF-26 Chair Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and plenary sessions on politics, security, economy, trade, regional cooperation and APPF-related issues.

To mark the 25th founding anniversary of APPF and increase its role in fostering the implementation of sustainable development goals, the Vietnamese NA will propose and send the Ha Noi Declaration to member parliaments for feedback before submitting it to APPF-26. The declaration will affirm the role, emphasize commitments and shape a development vision of the APPF in the new development period.

Addressing the session, Mr. Giau said that the National Assembly Chairwoman made specific assignments for NA and Committee leaders to participate in and have bilateral contacts with delegates on the sidelines of APPF-26.

National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong praised the Organization Board and relevant agencies for the good preparation for the conference./.
